Shark Fishing Anyone?

Talk about an amazing day for Shark Fishing aboard the SeaFox! Captain Chris and 3 amazing guests had the opportunity to hook on to three Porbeagle Sharks! The three sharks were very large - approximately 8-9 feet in length and weighing 135-160kgs (300-350lbs)!!

Porbeagle sharks are a stout-bodied shark that resemble their relatives the great white! Acheiving lengths of 8-12 feet the Porbeagle is a large shark that feeds on the many types of fish found in the Bay of Fundy.

Whales, Wildlife and Weather..

The Fin's have come to stay here in the Bay of Fundy, Island Quest has been sighting the friendly giants on many of our departures to our guests enjoyment. Not only have the Fin's been cooperating, our favorite, the small Minkes have been curious and playful as well.

St. Andrews Sport Fishing has partnered with the Canadian Shark Conservation Society! On July 7th, 2011 there will be the first of many SHARK FISHING trips to head out into the Bay of Fundy.

Aboard the 29' SeaFox equipped with two 225hp Evinrude E-Tec engines, you will venture out with Shark Biologists in search of the elusive sharks of the bay - Porbeagles, Threshers, Mako's, and maybe even the giant of the deep - the Great White Shark!

2011 Season Starts with a Splash

The 2011 season is starting out wonderfully here at Island Quest, yesterday while out on our 2pm departure we had the pleasure of spending time with Minke AND Finback Whales! So not only are we sighting our usual favorites, the Harbour Seals, Harbour Porpoise, Bald Eagles, and multiple types of nesting sea birds we are also seeing those friendly giants - the WHALES!

I would also like to announce the enhancement of our beautiful whale watching vessel, the Island Quest. Captain Chris, a master boat builder, decided to make an addition of 5.5 feet to the stern, providing our guests with more outside viewing space and seating!!

North Atlantic Right Whales Are Here!

Great news early again this year! The highly endangered North Atlantic Right Whales have appeared in the Bay of Fundy once again and have been sighted since Friday! Whale sightings this season have been phenomenal, an early start with Minke whales in May kicked things off, now with all four species August, September and October are sure to be unbelievable!

What A Magnificent Day On The Bay!

WOW...What a day!

We are so excited to let all the folks calling and e-mailing us for updates on our sightings that TODAY WE GOT TO OBSERVE 4 OR 5 FIN WHALES, A MINKE WHALE AND A HUMPBACK WHALE, that showed off a little with a full breach, that's when they jump clear out of the water! We also saw lots and lots of seals, porpoise, an eagle and Northern Gannets.
This is going to be a great season with all the activity on the Bay and the whales showing up early, don't forget to call ahead to book your seats, you won't be disappointed.

Minke Whales... A Great Way To Start The 2010 Season

Today's adventure did not disappoint, with plenty of seals sunning on the rocks, a juvenile bald eagle in its nest and two cooperative Minke Whales, everyone on board was thrilled.
